Presbytery of Falkirk
World Mission

The Leader of the World Mission Division is Mr Ivar Struthers, tel: 01324 841145, e-mail wm@falkirkpresbytery.org. The Division exists to help members of Presbytery and the constituent congregations become more aware of the worldwide family of Jesus Christ to which they belong, and hence experience and enjoy sharing in God's mission on earth as partners with others in this work.

Souper Sunday 2012:
Over the last two years, many congregations have enjoyed 'Souper Sunday' worship services, using a special Order of Service prepared by the Church of Scotland HIV Programme. Congregations are now encouraged to become involved in 'Souper Sunday 2012' and can choose which Sunday suits them best. After the service, congregations that are able are encouraged to hold a simple soup-and-bread lunch with an offering going to the Church of Scotland HIV Programme. Some congregations have had Sundae Sundays (in the summer with ice cream), croissant and bacon rolls (for early services) and such like. Not only does Souper Sunday help our churches to focus on the key issues surrounding HIV, it brings these issues of justice and hope before God in worship and in prayer. Since January 2010, Souper Sunday has helped the Programme raise the awareness of HIV, and has also raised more than £150,000 for our partners at home and overseas.
Resources, including a complete Order of Service, children's worship material and a Souper Sunday poster are available from the Church of Scotland website at www.churchofscotland.org.uk/speak_out/hiv_programme/articles/souper_sunday
